Ying Liu studied rheumatology for her Masters degree. Her dissertation was a clinical and experimental study on the treatment of SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus) with Chinese herbs combined with Western drugs, which was based on the experience of the rheumatology department at the University Hospital in Shandong Province, where she used to work.
The conclusion was to her research was that Chinese herbal medicine, when used synergistically with drugs, such as cortisone steroid and immunosuppressive medications, can more effectively control the symptoms.
